Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Qazanfar Roknabadi and Head of Lebanon’s National Democratic Society Qassan Ja’far discussed bilateral ties and regional developments in a meeting in Beirut on Wednesday. At the meeting, Roknabadi and Ja’afar underlined the need for the further expansion of bilateral ties and mutual cooperation between Iran and Lebanon. Ja’far pointed to the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Tehran, and said, “The vast presence of foreign dignitaries in the ceremony was unique per se and showed the Islamic Republic’s special status in the region and the world, specially at the present juncture.” Ja'far also thanked Iran for its supports for Lebanon and Syria, as well as the Lebanese resistance movement, and said, “We have always been beside the Islamic Republic of Iran in the axis of resistance against the Zionist regime and we will do our best to this end.” The Iranian ambassador, for his part, called for the further expansion of bilateral ties with Lebanon. Iran and Lebanon enjoy cordial relations and have further expanded these ties in recent years. The two sides have exchanged several delegations of high-ranking officials in the last three years.
