Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian discussed ways of improving the bilateral ties and cooperation between the two countries in a meeting in Yerevan on Tuesday. At the meeting, the Armenian minister welcomed Salehi's first visit to his country, and described the two states' relations as good and age-old. He further stated that Tehran-Yerevan relations are at a high level and continue to develop. The Iranian top official thanked Nalbandian for the warm words, and announced that he was happy to visit friendly Armenia. Salehi noted that Iran had always rated relations with Armenia and would do everything to continue this cooperation. Further in the meeting, the two top diplomats discussed a visit to Armenia by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad which is due to take place at the end of this year. Cooperation in political, economic, inter-governmental, energy, transport, educational and tourism spheres was also discussed during the meeting. The two officials also exchanged views over the latest developments in the region.
