Iran, US exchanging messages in connection with Syrian crisis

Iran and the US maintain contacts in the wake of a rise of tensions over the developments in Syria, ISNA news agency said Tuesday quoting Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who was making a brief visit to Baghdad. He told reporters that the process would continue if need be. Iran and the US broke off diplomatic relations more than thirty years ago. Iranian government is openly siding with the administration of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the ongoing conflict with the Syrian irreconcilable armed opposition and it is protesting resolutely against the US plans to deliver missile and bomb strikes at Syria. Iranian governmental officials have more than once made warnings about the big dangers that an aggression against Syria might bring the whole Middle East region and the US itself to face with.
