Iran will make every effort for the talks of six participants (five U.N. Security Council permanent members and Germany) on Tehran's nuclear program to be successful, the republic's President Hassan Rouhani said at the Foreign Relations Council meeting in New York on Thursday. The Iranian government is ready to do everything possible to reach a mutually acceptable agreement. Tehran is ready to work with the Group of Six to ensure transparency of the nuclear program, Rouhani stated. The president reiterated that the Iranian nuclear program had only peaceful purposes. Iran has never planned creation of nuclear weapons, he assured. Such weaponry would undermine the country's interests in national security. There is no place for it in Iran's military doctrine, Rouhani stressed. Tehran's nuclear program develops in accordance with international standards and is open for monitoring by IAEA inspectors, he said. The president emphasized at the same time that Iran would never give up the development of peaceful nuclear technologies. The continuation of the policy of pressure, twisting of arms, intimidation and sanctions may only poison the atmosphere in the talks and weaken Iran's determination to participate, Rouhani warned.
