
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and new Qatari Ambassador to Tehran Ali ibn Ahmad Ali al-Salayti underlined the need for an all-out expansion of mutual cooperation between the two Muslim nations. In a meeting on Monday, the top Iranian diplomat said that the ground for setting up Iran-Qatar joint economic commission meeting is well prepared. He called for continued exchange of views between the two governments on mutual, regional and global developments. Al-Salayti for his part expressed the hope that during his tenure in Iran, he would be able to spare no efforts to help broaden and deepen relations between the two nations. He underscored that he Qatari high ranking officials have always called for expansion of relations and cooperation with Iran. Both Iran and Qatar have recently augmented efforts to further expand ties and cooperation in all the different political, economic, defense, security and cultural fields. The two Persian Gulf littoral states recently signed several protocols to increase mutual cooperation.
