Commanders of Iranian and Omani naval forces called Monday for naval cooperation, the official IRNA news agency reported. Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari and his Omani counterpart Admiral Abdollah bin Khamis bin Abdollah al- Raisi underlined here the need for joint cooperation to maintain regional peace and stability, said the report. Sayyari referred to the two countries' religious, cultural and historical commonalties and called for mutual military cooperation. The visiting Omani commander also called for closer cooperation between the two countries' naval forces and expressed his country' s interest in holding joint marine maneuvers and boosting educational and technical cooperation with Iran, said IRNA.
