Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Friday Tehran and Brasilia enjoy ancient-old ties, calling for enhanced cooepration. On Iran-Brazil 110-year-old ties, Mehmanparast underlined that Islamic Republic of Iran attaches great importance to enhanced cooperation between the two countries in all arenas. He said some certain media outlets and countries were dismayed by Iran-Brazil relations, resorting to media propaganda to tarnish the ties. Meanwhile, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s Press Advisor Ali Akbar Javanfekr rejected the version of his recent interview with Brazilian newspaper 'Folha de Sao Pauloas' as published by that daily on January 24, saying his remarks were 'distorted.' Agencies quoted Javanfekr as blaming Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff for undermining 'years of good relations' with Tehran. However, Javanfekr said that the interview has been distorted by the media and that he told the daily Folha de Sao Paulo that 'Rousseff needs time to cement further Tehran-Brasilia ties.' Javanfekr further noted that he commended the Brazilian government and people for supporting the Islamic Republic of Iran.
