New York - Anadolu

A UN meeting on international justice drew reactions since it was being used by Serbia to divert attention from its role in the Balkan wars. Following the steps of Jordan, the US and Canada are boycotting the disputed meeting, since it was unbalanced and Bosnian war victims were not given a chance to talk.   UN SG Ban Ki Moon attended the meeting as one of the key speakers along with Vuk Jeremic, the president of the 193-nation assembly and also former Serbian FM, and Serbia President Tomislav Nikolic. Ban said impunity for war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and other serious international crimes was no longer acceptable, nor is it tolerated and those who stoke the flames of hatred and division -whether head of state, head of militia, individual soldier or individual citizen– have increasingly few places to hide. Ban called on everyone attending the meeting and their partners around the world to join together to support and strengthen the international tribunals and courts. Serbia President Tomislav Nikolic criticised the crimes in Bosnia being a trial issue and claimed that Serbs were also victims.     Jordan organised a press conference with the attendance of Munira Subasic, head of the Mothers of Srebrenica Association. She said she was not given a chance to talk at the panel where Jeremic and Nikolic claimed that they were innocent. Subasic said she realized that the UN had not taken any lessons from the past.   The meeting is due to end on Thursday.
