International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr held three meetings with representatives of the World Bank (WB) to discuss development projects in Egypt.
During her meeting with Asaad Alem, the WB regional director in Egypt, Nasr touched on the bank's funding of two ventures to support the 1.5-million-feddan project and promote development in Upper Egypt.
The WB is scheduled to provide 500,000 million dollars for each project.
The two sides tackled also prospects of mutual cooperation and ways of making use of Egypt's portfolio at the WB, estimated to equal eight billion dollars.
They tackled also preparations for a visit that will be paid by Nasr to Washington on October 7-9, during which she will lead Egypt's delegation to the WB annual meetings.
Nasr held another meeting with Alfonso Garcia Mora, the director of the Finance and Markets Sector at the World Bank.
The meeting tackled aspects of cooperation between Egypt and the WB in the field of insurance and micro-enterprises.
Nasr met also with a WB poverty and social justice assessment team over a technical assistance grant that will be provided by the World Bank for the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) to update the poverty and justice index in Egypt.
