A spokesman for the Egyptian Al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun (Muslim Brotherhood) party lambasted Washington for using its financial resources against Islamist parties to prevent their victory in the third stage of the parliamentary elections in the Arab country. "The US embassy in Cairo supports certain Egyptian parties under the name of supporting democracy and all these aids are aimed at hitting a blow to Ikhwan al-Muslimun," Mahmoud Qazalan told FNA on Tuesday. He described the US financial support as a way to interfere in Egypt's internal affairs, and said all Egyptian parties should rely on their own power and members, warning that foreigners' financial aids are provided to meet their own political interests. Qazalan underlined that Ikhwan al-Muslimun has never received any financial aids from any Eastern or Western country. Earlier this month, another member of Al-Ikhwan al-Muslimun party deplored the US for its interferences in his country after the collapse of Hosni Mubarak's regime, and said Egypt's military council is under the pressures of Washington. "The US has pressured Egypt's military council through the military deals that it has signed with Cairo," Kamal al-Halbawi told FNA on Saturday. He called on Egypt's military council to find a way to decrease the pressures exerted by the US and the West and make efforts to have balanced relations with Washington so that the rights of both countries are respected.
