ICC Dismisses Case Against Kenyan Vice President
The Hague - Arab Today

The Internation Criminal Court in The Hague on Tuesday closed proceedings against Kenya's Vice President William Ruto and his co-defendant Joshua Arap Sang, saying "political meddling" did not allow for a fair trial.
Important prosecution witnesses are thought to have been threatened or bribed, the court said in a statement.
The charges against Ruto and Sang over crimes against humanity, including "murder, deportation or forcible transfer of population and persecution" which were "allegedly committed in the context of the 2007-2008 post-election violence in Kenya" would be dropped, it said, dpa reported.
The judges justified their decision citing "witness interference and political meddling." The court did not, however, exclude the possibility of a "new prosecution in the future either at the ICC or in a national jurisdiction."
