Responding to Ennahdha's call on Friday, hundreds of people staged a pro-Morsi rally in the Tunisian capital on Saturday. Holding giant portraits of the deposed Egyptian president, the demonstrators chanted slogans in support of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, calling for the return of Morsi. Some of Ennahdha's main figures took part in the rally. While the rally was taking place on the Avenue Bourguiba in Tunis, scores of pro-Ennahdha militants staged a protest before the Egyptian embassy in Tunis, denouncing the "military coup" in Egypt and calling for a return to "legitimacy." Both events took place under heavy police surveillance, local media reported. In a statement issued on his facebook page on Friday, Ennahdha' s leader Rached Ghannouchi urged Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood to continue the protests until the return of Morsi to the presidency.
