NEW DELHI - QNA

German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said that he is deeply concerned regarding the latest events in Afghanistan, in light of an attack on Saturday that killed German soldiers. Westerwelle said Berlin felt ''pain and deep mourning'' after the suicide attack in Northern Afghanistan in which seven people were harmed, and two German soldiers were killed. However he maintained that Germany's policies in Germany will remain unchanged. "It cannot and will not divert us from carrying out our strategy in Afghanistan," he said. He stressed that with Afghan security forces set to start assuming responsibility in the provinces, the withdrawal of the first German soldiers would, as planned, begin towards the end of the year. The foreign Minister said that the German army was in Afghanistan for 10 years, but must not stay there for another 10 years. Saturday''s attack killed two German soldiers and injured five others.
