Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said in a statement Thursday that the massacre of Damascus, which killed nearly 1300 civilians by chemical weapons, is a condemnable act of genocide, "but what is shameful the most is the UN Security Council's reaction over the massacre." "The Council merely condemned and denounced it, claiming investigation rather than taking a decisive pragmatic attitude, especially that international inspectors are currently in Damascus," Geagea regretted. He sadly pointed at the absence of an adequate response over this painful tragedy, highlighting the lack of minimum sense of humanitarian solidarity and responsibility. The LF leader did not fail to shed light on "the official French position which gives hope amid the darkness that hangs over the UN Security Council." He finally criticized the absence of any official position at the Lebanese level, "although the issue is sheer humanitarian."
