Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe
Tokyo - Arab Today

Leaders of the Group of Seven advanced economies began a two-day summit Thursday in central Japan at which they are expected to agree to implement flexible fiscal strategies and promote structural reforms to spur global growth.

Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe welcomed US President Barack Obama and other G-7 leaders at the Ise Grand Shrine in Mie Prefecture, according to Japan's (Kyodo) News Agency.

In summit talks at a hotel in Shima in the prefecture, the leaders are also likely to express "strong opposition" to island construction and militarization of outposts in the South China Sea in a declaration to be issued after the summit, a veiled criticism of Beijing's unilateral actions to assert its claims to disputed islands and atolls.
