Ramallah - Anadolu

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius stated Syrian President Bashar Assad should allow the international committees to investigate and prepare a report in East Ghouta region of Syria.   Speaking in a joint press conference with Palestinian Prime Minister Rami al-Hamdallah after having signed the agreement for financial support of Palestine, Fabius said, "If Assad did not use chemical weapons, he shall allow the UN team to investigate the Ghouta incidents." He stressed that France's approach did not change against the Assad regime. "All the information we have are in the direction of chemical weapon attack which was organized in Damascus. Nobody can remain unresponsive against this massacre." Meanwhile, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas stated they would continue to their talks with Israel, saying, "We are ready to sign a covering peaceful agreement to build a Palestinian government in 1967's borders." Having met Fabius, Abbas had stated they hope that Israel stops the illegal residential activities and facilitates the release of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons. Thanking France for their support in Palestine's becoming 'observer state' in UN, Abbas praised the efforts of the countries, which give regional support within the period of negotiations' restart. Fabius said he congratulated both Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for they have restarted the negotiation talks and added French President Francois Hollande plans a visit to the region to give support for the peace process. Reminding also that Israeli residential attempts were illegal, Fabius said despite the incidents in Egypt and Syria, "the main problem of the Middle East was the Palestinian issue, which should be solved." He added justice will lack unless Palestine gains independence. On Wednesday, Syrian opposition coalition blamed the Syrian regime forces of carrying out a chemical weapon attack in suburbs of capital Damascus which it said killed at least 1,300 people. But the Syrian regime strongly denied the claim and described reports and figures as "lies and groundless," saying reports were aimed at "distracting a visiting team of United Nations chemical weapons experts from their mission." A UN investigation team is currently in Syria to investigate earlier an allegation of use of chemical weapons reported by the Syrian government at Khan al-Assal as well as two other allegations reported by UN Security Council member states.
