World-renowned IT security expert, and co-founder of Europe’s largest anti-virus company, Eugene Kaspersky will address anti-fraud professionals at the 2017 ACFE Fraud Conference Middle East from 29th to 31st January, 2017 in Dubai.

Held under the patronage of AbdulAziz Abdulla Al Ghurair, Chairman of UAE Banks Federation, this event is hosted by the Department of Economic Development (DED), Government of Dubai, in partnership with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).

Kaspersky will be joined by other anti-fraud experts including former Enron CFO Andrew Fastow, who served a prison sentence for fraud, and will offer attendees a unique look into the mind of a fraudster. In concurrent sessions, attendees will learn how to use the latest data analytics in their investigations, explore case studies in fraud from the Middle East, and develop cost-effective methods of preventing and detecting fraud.

"As the government body entrusted to set and drive the economic agenda of the emirate of Dubai, the DED supports the structural transformation of Dubai into a diversified, innovative service-based economy that consistently improves the business environment and accelerates productivity growth Our support to the ACFE Fraud Conference Middle East is part of our strong commitment to promoting the exchange of critical knowledge on fraud prevention and competitive business practices among professionals worldwide," said Mohammed Hilal Al Muroushdi, CEO, Internal Audit Sector of the DED.

Attendees will also receive an early look at the Report to the Nations on Occupational Fraud and Abuse: 2016 Middle East Edition. The report shows that fraud cases examined in the Middle East resulted in a median loss of USD275,000 (more than AED1 million) per case, notably higher than the global median loss of USD150,000.

"Fraud continues to be a pervasive problem across the globe, and an especially costly one in the Middle East. By partnering with the ACFE to host the ACFE Fraud Conference Middle East, the DED is showing its leadership in educating and preventing fraud in the UAE and the entire region," said James D. Ratley, President, ACFE.
