France on Wednesday said it was ready to help Pakistan with humanitarian aid following Tuesday's massive earthquake there, which measured 7.7 on the open-ended Richter scale, official sources said. At least 210 people are known to have died in the earthquake which hit in the remote, mountainous Awaran region of Baluchistan. Hundreds more were injured and the homeless toll is on the rise. The French Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Paris had learned "with emotion" about the disaster and had sent condolences to the Pakistani authorities. "France is at the disposal of the Pakistani authorities for any request for humanitarian assistance," the French statement said.
