France on Friday condemned an attack attributed earlier in the week to the Islamist Boko Haram group in north-eastern Nigeria, where at least 87 people are believed to have died. The attack by men disguised in military uniforms is being blamed on Boko Haram, an extremist movement which has been active in the Borno province and has been behind several similar but less bloody operations. France expressed condolences to the families and relatives of the victims and also "reaffirmed solidarity with Nigeria in the fight against Boko Haram" and Paris urged Nigeria to carry out this battle "by respecting the law and human rights."
