Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said that there is a collective responsibility of all international parties toward reaching a lasting settlement to the Syrian crisis.
In exclusive statements to the US Alhurra channel on Tuesday, Shoukry said that all international parties shoulder a collective responsibility toward coming up with a formula for the Syrian crisis, stressing that this formula should be in favor of the interests of the Syrian people and the international community.
He further stressed the importance of continuing international consultations to reach a consensus that could relieve the pain and suffering of the Syrian people.
On Monday, Russia and China vetoed a UN Security Council resolution on an immediate seven-day ceasefire in the Syrian city of Aleppo, which was submitted by Egypt, New Zealand and Spain.
The Russian Foreign Minister earlier described the draft resolution as "counterproductive".
Before the vote, Russia's UN envoy said that the country would vote against the document, informing UNSC members of Moscow’s decision.
