Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi on Monday said that European states, enjoying experienced politicians, were not expected to get involved in the recent US anti-Iran game.He made the remarks in his message to a two-day seminar on Iran-Europe relations. Condemning the UN anti-Iran resolutions and unilateral sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic of Iran in the past few years, he reiterated that Tehran has always been interested in peaceful nuclear activities. He urged European officials to be concerned over the threat of real bombs piled up in various European countries instead of presenting unreal and misleading pictures from Iran’s peaceful nuclear program. Denouncing the support of certain European states for the Zionist regime, the FM stressed that such an approach has made the Tel Aviv regime more cruel in continuation of its savage attacks against the oppressed Palestinian nation. There are great differences in the Iranian and European views regarding the human rights issue, he said, Tehran opposes violation of human rights in CIA prisons in Europe as well as ignoring the basic rights of Muslims in several European states. Regretting over the approach of Islamophobia in Europe, he condemned the support of certain European states for the terrorist MKO and PJAK grouplets. Such moves are indications that they are not sincere in their fight against the issue of terrorism, the Iranian FM said in his message. He urged Europe not to follow the anti-Iran approach of the US and instead adopt an independent policy regarding the Islamic Republic. Referring to the great potentials existing in both Iran and European states for expansion of relations, he called for removing the obstacles on the way of further promotion of bilateral ties. Iran, enjoying rich energy resources, is a source of great attention for Europe, Salehi said, adding the Islamic Republic is the sixth state in regards to the supply of energy to the EU. On the key role being played by the Islamic Republic in regional political, economic and security equations, particularly in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Palestine, he underlined the need for establishment of constructive ties between the two sides in various areas.
