US authorities revealed on Monday that the suspicious package which sickened employees at New York City's John Fitzgerald Kennedy International Airport late Sunday and caused a brief scare contained only beauty supplies. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officials say two customs workers felt ill after opening a package originating from China, prompting an immediate quarantine and emergency response. The FBI's hazardous materials responders that later determined the suspicious substance found inside the container, initially feared to be nerve gas, was a broken bottle of nail polish remover. FBI hazardous-materials teams responded to the airport post office in a cargo area out of an "abundance of caution" after two postal employees opened a package and reported feeling sick, local FBI spokesman J. Peter Donald said. FBI officials have cleared the scene Sunday, according to Donald. No flights were reportedly delayed.
