
The European Union (EU) launched here Saturday the project of "Towards practical change in the rights of woman and handicapped youth in Egypt" which aims at further merging the disabled in the Egyptian society.
The EU allocated 279.000 euros for the project to allow the organizations concerned with the handicapped and youth to play a vital role in civil society.
The project, which is funded by the EU, targets empowering the handicapped especially the youth and women, according to a statement issued by the Delegation of the EU to Egypt on Sunday.
The venture will be implemented by the Handicap International Organization.
The head of the human rights department at the EU delegation in Egypt said that the union seeks improving the conditions of the disabled, enhancing their participation in the economy and society and fighting discrimination.
