EU: no change in aid programs to Egypt in coming 2 years

There will be no change in aid programs of the EU to Egypt in the coming two years, said EU ambassador in Cairo James Moran.

Moran was commenting on the possible repercussions of Britain's exit from the bloc. 

The EU will continue its role in supporting stability, Moran told an Iftar held by the EU Delegation to Egypt on Monday.

Britain will remain a member of the EU until the divorce process is completed following its vote to leave the bloc, he noted.

The process will last for two years and nothing will be changed over this period, he made it clear.

Discussions will continue with Cairo on regional and mutual issues including counter-terror and security, Moran said.

A program will kick off to help Egypt in addressing the issue of illegal migration and refugees, he added.

As for the trade exchange with Egypt, Moran said it has started to recover, citing a 10-percent increase in the trade of agricultural products.
