Erdogan: Turkish public accepted Ombudsman practice quickly

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday that the Ombudsman adjustment had quickly been accepted throughout the Turkish public despite being a newly established institution. Erdogan delivered a speech at the International Ombudsman Symposium in Ankara in which he reminded that they have made the required adjustments for the Ombudsman office in June 2012. "The Obdusman office, which has been active for 6 months, is carrying on its work, having receiving 4,476 complaints in 6 months," said Erdogan. - The West and EU could not denominate the military coup as a "coup" Erdogan reminded that over 100 thousand people have been killed in Syria, adding, "In this process, the West and EU have been just discussing the incidents but have not taken any step." Referring to the Egyptian military's July 3 overthrow of elected president Mohamed Morsi, Erdogan said that the West and EU should describe a "coup" as what it really was. He said, "EU could not denominate the military coup in Egypt as a 'coup'." Indicating the crisis in Egypt, Erdogan noted, "When the majority would obtain authorization from the public, the majority would rule the public, so that selected groups may not rule the majority."
