Erdogan, Obama Discuss Fight Against Daesh

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Barack Obama emphasized their determination to continue to fight ISIS especially in Syria and Iraq.

    According to a statement by the Turkish presidency issued Thursday, the two presidents also agreed during a telephone conversation on Wednesday on the need not to allow Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) to station in northern Iraq. The two leaders also affirmed their support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq.

    Erdogan and Obama stressed the need to continue the current operations against ISIS in order to reduce security threats against the Syrian people, Turkey, the United States and other countries.

    Obama welcomed continued dialogue between Turkey and Iraq to determine the appropriate level and form of Turkey's participation in countering ISIS in northern Iraq.

    For his part, Erdogan affirmed the need to clear the region from ISIS and PKK, adding that Mosul operation should be managed very sensitively.
