Cairo - QNA

Egypt’s vice president for external affairs Mohamed ElBaradei stressed Saturday the importance of finding “a peaceful solution” for the current political crisis in the country away from “violence.” The Egyptian Presidency said in a statement that El-Baradei’s remarks came after his meeting with US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns and EU Special Representative for the Southern Mediterranean Region Bernardino Leon who are currently visiting Egypt to get familiarized with the latest developments and find a way out for the imminent crisis. Finding a solution “should be within the law and the constitution which would preserve Egypt’s identity and the rights of its people,” El-Baradei said during the meeting. “It is the government’s duty to exert all possible effort to keep peace and stability in the country and to protect the people’s properties. These efforts would, hence, generate more income, more job vacancies and put the country’s economy back on the road to recovery,” he noted. Earlier today, Egyptian Interim President Adly Mansour met here on Saturday with US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns and European Union’s Envoy Bernardo Leon and the delegations accompanying both of them. A statement released from the Egyptian presidency said that the three officials exchanged views on current developments in Egypt. The statement added that discussions reflected an agreement and understanding from all the parties of the latest developments in Egypt. For his part, Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy held talks with US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns, who is currently visiting Cairo. The Middle East News Agency (MENA) said that Burns and his accompanying delegation left the headquarters of the Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs after a one-hour talks, without giving any statements.
