
Dr. Khalid Al-Khatib, head of the central department for urgent and critical care at the Egyptian Ministry of Health announced that there are 38 bodies and nearly 500 injured in a number of hospitals adjacent to Rabia Al Aadawiya square . Al Khatib explained, in a statement today, that most of the injuries were caused by birdshots and gun shots. A field hospital at Rabia Al Aadawiya announced earlier in the day the death of 120 demonstrators and the injury of 4500 others. Dozens of Dead and Injured in Clashes between Morsi Supporters and Police Nearly ten of supporters of ousted President Mohammed Morsi were killed and dozens others were injured in clashes with police forces which broke last night and lasted till the early hours of Saturday in Al-Nasr Street in Cairo. According to the Middle East News Agency (MENA), supporters of the ousted president tried to ascend the October bridge from Al-Nasr Street side in order to cut it and disable the movement of vehicles, but security forces prevented and dispersed them using tear gas canisters. While the Brotherhood says that most of the deaths and injuries were caused by gunshots, some fired from high places, and that the injury was in places as deadly as the head and chest, a security source at the Interior Ministry confirmed that the police only used tear gas to break up the clashes, MENA said. The security source reiterated that the security forces did not use firearms to disperse the protesters. He added that 8 policemen were injured with bullet cartridges in the clashes. U.K. Condemns Egypt Violence Against Protesters U.K. Foreign Secretary William Hague has condemned the use of force against protesters in Egypt, urging the different factions to resort to dialogue. "I am deeply concerned by recent events in Egypt, and condemn the use of force against protesters which has led to the loss of lives," Hague said in a statement issued Saturday. "I call on all sides to refrain from violence. Now is the time for dialogue, not confrontation. It is the responsibility of leaders on all sides to take steps to reduce tensions." Hague also urged the Egyptian authorities to "cease the use of violence against protestors, including live fire, and to hold to account those proved responsible." He urged the release of political leaders who were detained in the wake of "the events of July 3, or charge them in accordance with the law," adding that such charges must be "free from any suspicion that they are politically motivated." "In our view, Egypt needs a political process that includes all groups on an equal footing leading to early and fair elections which all parties are able to contest," Hague added. Saudi Ambassador Denies Media Reports on Storming the Saudi Embassy in Cairo Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Egypt Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Al-Qattan , who is also the Kingdom's permanent representative to the Arab League, has strongly denied some media reports on storming the headquarters of the Saudi Embassy in Cairo. In a statement released here on Saturday and relayed by the Saudi press agency (SPA) , Ambassador Al-Qattan stressed the invalidity of this news altogether, explaining that the competent Egyptian authorities are doing their job to the fullest to protect the embassy in Cairo. Egyptian Foreign Ministry Denies Meeting of Ihsanoglu with Ousted President Morsi The Egyptian Foreign Ministry official spokesman has dismissed "as baseless and true" some media reports alleging that , Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu , the Secretary General of the Jeddha-based Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has met with ousted Egyptian President Dr. Mohamed Morsi. Official spokesman ambassador Badr Abdel Ati made clear in a statement released here Saturday that the news is completely bare of truth . The ousted president has refused to meet a human rights delegation who got a permission to meet him, Morsi, in his detention premises early this morning as stated by Nasser Amin , the director of the Arab Centre for the Independence of Judiciary and Legal Profession. Ousted President Morsi has delegated Ambassador Mohamed Rifaa Al Tahtawi, the former Chief Chamberlain of the presidency to speak on his behalf to the aforesaid delegation . The delegation comprises each of Mohamed Fayeq, the Former Chairman of the Human Rights National Council and Nasser Amin. Egypt Beefs up Airport Security Measures Security authorities at Cairo International Airport have tightened security measures for those arriving from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya and Yemen. The measures include making sure of the identity of arriving passengers, identifying the purpose of the visit before being granted a visa, the semi-official state Middle East News Agency (MENA) said quoting General Magdy As-Samman, the manager of passports' department at Cairo Airport. The plan aims to prevent unwanted passengers due to the current circumstances in the country, he added. France Deplores Heavy Death Toll in Egyptian Protests on Saturday France on Saturday calls upon all the parties concerned in Egypt and notably the army, to show the greatest self-restraint following the acts of violence which claimed tens of people killed the pro-Morsi supporters in clashes with the anti-Morsi protesters. The Foreign Minisrty Spokesman Philippe Lalliot said," "France deplores the heavy death toll in the clashes in Egypt, and Paris "calls all the parties, and notably the army, to show proof of the greatest restraint." In a statement issued here here today, Philippe Lalliot deplored the heavy loss of life and the massive number of injuries in clashes between Egyptian police and soliders and supporters of deposed president Mohammed Morsi.. At least 80 people were said to have been shot dead and well over one hundred were wounded after the army allegedly opened fire on protesters. Military authorities are denying they used live ammunition. The French statement also called for everything to be done to avoid an escalation in the violence. "We urge all parties to be calm and to search for a compromise so that a political solution emerges peacefully and so that elections can be organised as soon as possible in line with the commitments made by the Egyptian transitional authorities," the Foreign Minitstry said. France Urges Restraint in Egypt Standoff France on Saturday urged both sides in the current standoff in Egypt to exercise restraint and seek a peaceful solution. "Everything must be done to avoid a spiral of violence," the Foreign Ministry said. It called for elections to be held as soon as possible, dpa reported. OIC Concerned Over Events in Egypt The Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmi has received a telephone call from the Secretary-General of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu. Egyptian Foreign Ministry's Spokesman said in statements that Ihsanoglu during the call expressed concern over the escalation of violence in Egypt . He added that the Minister Fahmi noted that there is a security problem in the country which is being addressed, and that efforts are being made to achieve a comprehensive reconciliation between politics powers without exclusion, expressing confidence in the ability of the Egyptian government and people to achieve the national reconciliation.
