
Egypt welcomed the resumption of Burundi dialogue in Tanzania on May 2 as an important step for settling the Burundi crisis.
In a statement on Thursday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid urged the Burundi parties to work on rendering successful the political dialogue to reach a national consensus for the best interest of the Burundi people.
Burundi has been in turmoil since April 2015, when President Pierre Nkurunziza decided to run for a third term, which he went on to win in July, with violence leaving hundreds dead.
