
The death toll in protests across Egypt on Sunday rose further to 44 besides 246 injured persons as the country celebrates the 40th anniversary of October 6th victory over Israel, a medical source announced. Twenty-five of the deaths were registered in Cairo, 15 in Giza Governorate, three in Bani Suef and one in Minya Governorate, director of the Health Ministry's central department of critical cases Khaled Al-Khateeb told MENA news Agency. In a related development, the Ministry of Interior said 423 rioters were arrested in Cairo and Giza governorates. Most of the rioters belong to the banned Muslim Brotherhood Group, according to a statement by the ministry, The rioters attacked other citizens with firearms and the ensuing clashed claimed 33 lives, it claimed, noting that the police forces had to step in and use tear gas to prevent further deterioration of the situation
