Egypt, in its capacity as head of the Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC), at the UNSC, opens on Monday an important two-day meeting on means to combat the financing of terrorism.
Egypt’s permanent representative to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Amr Abul Atta, who is also the head of the CTC, invited all member states of the United Nations and a number of experts concerned from different countries to participate in the two-day meeting.
Egypt will participate with a delegation from the money laundering and counter-terrorism unit to review the Egyptian efforts in the fight against the financing of terrorism.
The meeting will address all aspects concerning terrorism financing, including a review of the best practices to tackle such a threat.
It will also discuss how to urge states to implement their obligations in this regard, including ways strengthen international cooperation to control this issue.
Since election to lead the CTC, Egypt set a list of priorities to address counter-terrorism dimensions in order to block access by terrorists to the IT and internet facilities.
