Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his Malawian counterpart signed an agreement to establish a joint cooperation committee between the two countries.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the fourth Arab-African Summit that concluded its activities Wednesday in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
In a statement Thursday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said the committee will be mainly tasked with boosting cooperation between Egypt and Malawi in different fields.
The committee will convene once every two years at the level of ministers or their deputies.
The Malawian minister suggested holding the first meeting of the committee in Malawi.
He further thanked Egypt for its technical support for Malawi in different fields.
The two ministers expressed hope that the committee would reinforce bilateral relations at the political and economic levels.
