New Egyptian Ambassador to China Osama Magdoub expressed his country's keenness on enhancing relations with China in all domains within the coming period.
Magdoub, speaking to MENA, said Egypt is keen to benefit from the Chinese expertise in the development domain, saying what China has managed to realize in the last three decades is a model to be followed being the most suitable for our situation.
Though political relations between Cairo and Beijing have reached the highest level, economic and investment ties, are still slowly progressing and do not live up to the level of the solid political relationship, he said.
That's why we are all working to enhance economic and investment cooperation especially as there is a serious desire by both sides to develop cooperation in this domain, the diplomat said.
In this context, Magdoub, who assumed his post as Egypt's ambassador to China on September 19, said a ministerial committee was formed grouping the Egyptian trade and investment ministers and their Chinese counterparts to push forward joint cooperation projects, especially in the infrastructure and industrial domains.
He added that the Egyptian side is invited to attend an exhibition in China in Ningxia region in September 2017 as a guest of honor, saying the event is a great opportunity to review available giant development projects in Egypt.
In the 2015 exhibition, around 10,000 Chinese companies took part in the event.
About the new administrative capital project in Egypt, the diplomat said a delegation of CFLD company, specialized in setting up smart cities, visited Egypt in September and expressed willingness to pump 20-billion-dollars investments into the project.
Asked about cooperation between the two countries to fight Egyptian traders and Chinese manufacturers who dump Egyptian markets with low-quality Chinese products to make profit, he said such kind of people are trying to make big gains by investing small amount of money and who do not care less about the Egyptian economy.
He made it clear that Chinese authorities are now trying to change current conception that Chinese products are linked to low quality by hunting down such manufacturers and making sure that all exported products are meeting quality standards.
As for cultural cooperation, he said a Chinese company has been trying for two years now to host an Egyptian monuments exhibition in four Chinese cities but still no remarkable progress in this domain has been reported.
He hoped that the exhibition would take place in China next year.
