Cairo - KUNA

Egyptian Interim President Adly Mansour met with Jordanian King Abdullah II, in Amman on Tuesday, and discussed ways to boost bilateral cooperation in many fields, specifically political and economic, a spokesman for Egyptian Presidency stated. During the summit, the two leaders affirmed continuation of bilateral consultations to unified Arab stances towards various regional issues, presidential spokesman Ehab Badawi added in a press statement. The summit showcased overall situations in the region, especially the Syrian crisis, the spokesman noted, indicating that the Egyptian President and Jordanian King agreed on importance of finding a comprehensive political solution for the crisis in order to end the suffering of Syrian people and maintain Syria's unity. King Abdullah pointed out his country's efforts in dealing with large numbers of Syrian refugees in the Kingdom, he indicated. In addition, the Egyptian-Jordanian summit talks dealt with efforts of attaining peace between Palestinians and Israelis until the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in accordance with the Two-state solution and Arab peace initiative, Badawi said. He added that both leaders have also warned against continuation of Israeli unilateral measures, settlement policy, and repeated aggression on Islamic and Christian sanctities in occupied Jerusalem which undermined the peace process. King Abdullah meanwhile congratulated President Mansour and the Egyptian people on the occasion of the 40th Anniversary of the October 6th military victory, wishing Egypt further development and overcoming all challenges it faces.
