Minister of Immigration and Expatriate Affairs Nabila Makram
Khartoum - Arab Today

Egyptian Minister of Immigration and Expatriate Affairs Nabila Makram asserted that strenuous efforts are exerted by the state to improve conditions of expatriates and provide them with necessary services to link them with their nation.

During her meeting with a number of Egyptian expatriates on Sunday at the Coptic Club in Khartoum, Makram explained that contacts are currently underway with the Ministry of Interior to open an office for the civil affairs services.

The same approach will be implemented with the ministries of investment and housing to ease measures for the Egyptian expatriates who need any relevant services, added the minister.

The event was attended by Egyptian Ambassador in Khartoum Osama Shaltout and Minister Plenipotentiary Abdel Sattar al-Sawy as well as a number of embassy staff.

The minister also pointed out to a proposal to launch an application called "consular card" in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs so as to include all expatriates' data to avoid counterfeited documents.

The proposed "consular card" would grant privileges to expatriates in various fields such as tourism and consular services, she added.

The minister also noted that coordination is also underway with the Egyptian banks to issue dollar saving certificates to expatriates with payment of profits every six months or a year, three years and five years.
