
Egypt has stressed the importance of international cooperation to confront the phenomenon of maritime piracy in the Gulf of Guinea, said Permanent representative to the United Nations Ambassador Amr Abu Ata.
The remarks were made on the sidelines of an open discussion held by the Security Council on the phenomenon of piracy in the Guinean Gulf.
Egypt prioritizes African issues discussed by the UN Security Council, Amr Said.
In a statement before the UNSC, Egypt stressed that the international community was responsible for supporting efforts exerted by the African states bordering the Gulf of Guinea to combat piracy, he said.
