An Egyptian court Sunday ordered the release of a political blogger who faces charges in the October death of a soldier during a riot near Maspero. Alaa Abd El Fattah will probably be out of jail by Monday to await further proceedings in the case, al-Masry al-Youm said. Abd El Fattah as 27 other defendants are accused of killing the soldier, stealing military weapons and destroying property during violent protests that left 27 civilians dead. The other defendants were released on remand earlier this month. One of Adb El Fattah's lawyers told reporters the date for the trial had not been set, and prosecutors planned to transfer the case from the Emergency Supreme State Security Court to an investigative judge in the near future.
