The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) is to hold elections in March to choose deputies for its legislature, the official KCNA news agency reported on Wednesday. The Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA) "decided to hold an election of deputies to the 13th SPA on March 9," the KCNA reported, without giving further details. The current deputies of the SPA were elected in March 2009 and their five-year terms are set to expire in March. The SPA is the highest organ of state power, according to the constitution of the DPRK. It has the rights to adopt, amend or supplement enactments to the constitution, determine state policy and budgets, and adjust the country's leadership.
