Nablus - Maan

Dozens of people protested the return to negotiations with Israel in Nablus on Tuesday. Protesters marched in the streets and chanted for the PA to pull out of the "futile" peace talks. The rallies were organized by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and the Palestinian People's Party. President Abbas took the decision to return to negotiations without consulting other Palestinian factions, PFLP spokesman in Nablus Zaher al-Shashteeri told Ma'an. "We are counting on American assurances that have proven unsuccessful in the past and will prove unsuccessful in the future," PPP official Khaled Mansour said. Negotiations do not require Israel to stop building settlements or accept 1967 borders, Mansour added, saying that Palestinians are worried about what is being negotiated in Washington.
