Davutoglu: Iran’s FM due in Turkey next week

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu announced that his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif is slated to pay an official visit to Ankara next week. The Turkish foreign minister made the announcement in Ankara after meeting his Iraqi counterpart Hoshyar Zebari. Zarif and Davutoglu last met on the sidelines of the 68th Annual Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 23. The two foreign ministers extensively discussed the ongoing conflict in Syria and the latest developments in Iraq. They also talked about Iran’s nuclear standoff with the West, Iran’s talks with the six major world powers (the five UN Security Council permanent members plus Germany). During their meeting, the Iranian and Turkish foreign ministers explored avenues for the further expansion of bilateral relations between Tehran and Ankara.
