Rabat - Itar-Tass

The court in Nigeria, West Africa, has released from custody seven Russian naval sailors from the crew of the patrol ship Myre Seadiver, which was detained in October 2012 at the port of the city of Lagos by the authorities of that African country under the pretext of the transportation of allegedly incorrectly declared firearms, the Russian Embassy in Nigeria told Itar-Tass on Tuesday. “Russian citizens are freed, they are staying in Lagos,” the diplomats noted. “The acquittal verdict was passed in the Myre Seadiver criminal case in Nigeria. Our naval sailors were acquitted and will return to the homeland soon,” they said. On June 18, 2013, the court in Nigeria has lifted the accusation against eight out of 15 crewmembers. On Tuesday, all naval sailors that stayed in the prison were released.
