China strongly condemns chemical weapons use

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Ley has condemned the Syrian regime for using chemical weapons during a press meeting in Beijing, stressing that the UN has conducted chemical examinations under very complicated conditions since August 21. Hong congratulated the UN team for submitting the report on time, and underlined that the Beijing administration values UN examinations and will scrutinize the report. "We are against using chemicals," Hong said, noting they strongly condemn the use of chemical weapons in Syria. Hong added they support further UN examinations in the region within the scope of the UN's agreement with the Syrian government. The Chinese FM said they support the annihilation of chemical weapons under the UN according the US-Russia deal, and called for the annihiation to be conducted simultaneouly with the political solution process in Syria.
