China on Tuesday called on Bosnia and Herzegovina to actively settle the differences through dialogue with a view to making bigger progress in various areas of development. The remarks came as Wang Min, Chinese deputy permanent representative to the United Nations addressed an open Security Council meeting on the situation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Wang told the meeting that the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina has undergone visible improvements since the signing of Dayton-Paris Peace Accord 16 years ago. However, the country is facing certain difficulties in its efforts to achieve peace and promote development. China respects the independence, sovereignty, national unity and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as the choice made by its people for the future of their country. "We hope the various ethnic groups of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be guided by the well-being and long-term interest of the country, actively resolve the differences through dialogue, strengthen political mutual trust and promote national reconciliation in an effort to fully implement Dayton-Paris Peace Accord and make bigger progress in various areas concerned," Wang said. China looks forward to the forming of a broad-based new government in Bosnia and Herzegovina at an early date, he added. Wang also noted that the question of Bosnia and Herzegovina is very complex and sensitive, urging the international community to adopt prudent approach in dealing with the issue and be attentive to various views and concerns of relevant parties in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
