
China called Friday for an investigation into allegations of chemical weapons use in Syria. The UN is sending an inspector mission to check on claims made Israel and the Syrian opposition that Bashar Al Assad's regime used chemical weapons in its fight against the Syrian opposition. Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hong Lei said that the Chinese administration hoped the UN team and the Syrian government can cooperate so that the investigation proceeds smoothly. They also stressed on the importance of solving the Syrian crisis politically. Earlier today, Russia has called for an "objective investigation" into a massacre in Syria which allegedly killed 1300 people through the use of poisonous gas, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Friday. The appeal was made after Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held talks with US Secretary of State John Kerry on the latest developments in Syria.
