Beijing - Xinhua

China and Bulgaria pledged here Friday to strengthen bilateral military relations. The pledge came during a meeting between Vice Chairman of China's Central Military Commission Xu Caihou and visiting Bulgarian Defense Minister Anyu Angelov. Xu, who paid a visit to Bulgaria this September, said the two countries have always enjoyed friendly cooperation since diplomatic ties were forged 62 years ago, adding that Sino-Bulgaria relations have been well proven by history and the international political situation. "China will continuously work with Bulgaria to enhance pragmatic cooperation in all areas, deepen bilateral ties and mutually safeguard peace and stability of the region and the world," Xu said. He vowed that both countries will further military ties, noting that China-Bulgaria military relations have progressed smoothly in recent years with frequent high-level visits, profession exchanges and expanded personnel training. China is ready to enhance pragmatic collaboration with Bulgaria and promote bilateral military relations, Xu said. Angelov, who is here for the first time, said China is a significant partner. Bulgaria will work to promote the comprehensive cooperative partnership with China as well as military-to-military relations, Angelov said.
