
Kuwaiti Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Thikra Al-Rashidi stated Tuesday that caring for people with special needs, children and the elderly was a top priority for Gulf Cooperation Council member states. "The GCC ministers have discussed social needs of children, the elderly and people with special needs to help them live a decent life," Al-Rashidi said following the 30th session of the GCC Social Development Ministers Council, held in the Bahraini capital. She added that policy-maker in the GCC states attach significant attention to caring for this segment of the society. Al-Rashidi underlined that the policy-making process in GCC countries is based on the principle of equality and citizenship. She disclosed that the conferees have touched upon key social issues as well as GCC joint action in social domain. The Kuwaiti Minister underscored the importance of developing a comprehensive social safety network to achieve economic and social stability in the Gulf region.
