Kabul - Arab Today

A suicide car bombing hit a foreign forces' military convoy in Afghanistan's eastern province of Parwan on Saturday, leaving no casualties, the coalition forces said.

"Resolute Support (RS) can confirm that one coalition vehicle was struck by a personnel borne IED (Improvised Explosive Device) this morning in the vicinity of Bagram. Despite Taliban claims and reports in the media, there were no injuries to coalition personnel involved," the coalition forces said in a statement.

The attack took place in Qala-e-Nasro area of Bagram District roughly at 10:00 a.m. local time.

A main U.S. and NATO-led forces' base is located in the district in the province 55 km north of Afghan capital of Kabul.

It was not immediately known whether the blast has caused casualties among civilian passersby, but local Afghan officials told media that the blast occurred in an unpopulated area.

"We will release more information as it becomes available," the coalition statement added.

The Taliban militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Taliban-led insurgency has been rampant since early April when the militant group launched its annual rebel offensive in different areas of the country.

The Taliban urged civilians to stay away from official gatherings, military convoys and centers regarded as the legitimate targets by militants besides warning people not to support the government.
