
US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns is expected to return to Egypt on Friday for the second time in just a couple of weeks as part of ongoing efforts to resolve the political standoff in Egypt. Burns visited Egypt two weeks agao where he had met interim president Adly Mansour and vice-president for international affairs Mohamed El Baradei, Egypt’s official Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported. The visit by the US official aims to show support for Egypt’s roadmap for democratic transition involving a civilian government and elections. Meanwhile, German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle has left here after a two-day visit to Egypt where he met senior officials including Interim President Adly Manour, Vice President For International Relations Dr. Mohamed El-Baradei and First Deputy Premier and Minister of Defence Gen. Abdul Fattah Al Sisi, on transition and reconciliation.
