
UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson had a telephone conversation on Monday with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during which Johnson hailed the Russian-US agreement on Syria.
Johnson and Lavrov agreed to hold a meeting on the sidelines of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Tass news agency quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying on Monday.
"The two ministers discussed in detail the situation around Syria. Johnson welcomed the Russian-US agreement reached at Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry in Geneva on September 9 and expressed his readiness to contribute to its successful implementation," the Russian ministry said.
