British Ambassador here John Casson expressed on Sunday condolences with the Egyptian government and people over the victims of Helwan terrorist attack.

In his Twitter account, Casson wrote, both in Arabic and English, "Our deepest condolences to the families of the policemen who were killed in Helwan".

He expressed Britain's support of Egypt in face of terrorism, saying "We stand together to defeat this terrorism".

Policemen, who were dressed up in civilian clothes, were riding a microbus when they were attacked by gunmen riding a half-truck on the Nile Corniche in Helwan earlier in the day.

The attackers opened heavy fire at the microbus of the security force that was on a security checkup, killing one policemen and seven conscripts.
